(Central News Agency, reporter Wu Jiahao, Taipei, June 9) Benefiting from new demand driven by AI applications at its subsidiaries, computer brand Acer today announced its consolidated revenue for May was approximately NT$26.166 billion, a year-on-year increase of 36.5%, marking a 13-year high for the month of May. Cumulative revenue for the first five months of this year was approximately NT$129.908 billion, a year-on-year increase of 31%, also a 13-year high for the same period.
ASUS's group consolidated revenue for May reached NT$69.094 billion, a year-on-year increase of 9.3%, setting a record for the best May performance ever. ASUS stated that its current operational progress is in line with expectations.
Looking at Acer's May operational highlights, PC revenue grew 32.7% year-on-year, display product revenue grew 30.7%, gaming and e-sports business revenue grew 31.6%, commercial product revenue grew 60.8%, and tablet revenue grew 66.7%.
Acer's strategy of building multiple business engines continues to bear fruit, with revenue from non-PC and non-display related businesses accounting for 33.1% of May revenue and 33.5% of cumulative revenue for the first five months.
ASUS Co-CEO Hu Shu-pin recently stated at an investor conference that the server business had already grown rapidly in the first quarter. Based on the visibility of orders for the second quarter and the second half of the year, as well as strong demand from emerging cloud service provider (Neo Cloud) customers, ASUS has raised its full-year server growth target from the original 50% to 100% to at least 100% growth.
