(CNA reporter Hao Hsueh-ching, Taichung, 9th) With Police Day approaching, the Taichung City Police Department held a celebration today, where Taichung Deputy Mayor Cheng Chao-hsin announced that the city government's approved increase to the hardship bonus and criminal investigation allowance was disbursed today, with a maximum monthly increase of NT$3,880.
June 15th is Police Day, and the Taichung City Police Department held a celebration in the afternoon. On behalf of the city, Cheng Chao-hsin commended 6 model police officers, 6 police medal recipients, and 23 outstanding personnel, thanking the police for their long-term hard work and dedication in safeguarding public order, traffic, and citizen safety.
During the meeting, Cheng announced that the city-approved increase in the hardship bonus and criminal investigation allowance was officially credited to accounts today, providing a maximum monthly increase of NT$3,880. He expressed hope that this tangible action would support frontline officers and serve as the strongest backing for grassroots personnel.
Cheng stated that police work is a year-round, day-and-night endeavor. Taichung's continued recognition as a livable city is thanks to all police personnel who stand fast at their posts, protecting the lives and property of citizens with professionalism, discipline, and a sense of mission.
To affirm the hard work and dedication of frontline officers, Cheng said the Police Department, based on the principle of varying pay for different work and the degree of duty hardship, planned a tiered system for the hardship bonus, which received full support from the city government. In addition to raising the relevant allowances, the city will also continue to improve office facilities, enhance duty equipment, and provide welfare measures such as health check subsidies to improve officers' working environment and quality of care.
Facing the local public official elections at the end of November, Cheng encouraged all officers to uphold the spirit of administration by law and administrative neutrality, fully committing to tasks such as investigating vote-buying and preventing violence, to jointly safeguard democracy, the rule of law, and social stability.
