(Central News Agency, reporter Wang Hongguo, New Taipei City, 7th) Strong convective activity in New Taipei City this afternoon led to heavy rainfall, causing flooding in multiple locations. The disaster response center was elevated to Level 3 activation. Fortunately, the flooding came and went quickly; the Water Resources Department stated that waters began to recede approximately 15 minutes after the rain subsided.

New Taipei City experienced heavy rain in the afternoon. According to monitoring, the heavy rainfall was concentrated in areas such as Shulin, Sanxia, and Banqiao. The intense downpour overwhelmed drainage systems, leading to flooding on some roads. Democratic Progressive Party councilor candidate Chen Junyan stated that based on observations on Minsheng Road in Banqiao, the initial estimated water depth exceeded 9 centimeters.

The city government announced the activation of the Level 3 disaster response center and urged residents to be cautious of flooding in low-lying areas and to watch for sudden heavy rain, rising river levels, and landslides in mountainous areas, emphasizing personal safety.

The Water Resources Department reported that the afternoon downpour caused flooding in Sanxia, the NTPU Special District in Shulin, Qiaozhong 2nd Street and Minsheng Road in Banqiao, Section 4 of Chongxin Road in Sanchong, and Zhongzheng 1st Road in Yingge. However, the floodwaters receded quickly, generally subsiding within 15 to 20 minutes after the rain stopped. (Editor: Lin Shuhui) 1150607
