Developing Convective Clouds: Heavy Rain Warning for New Taipei and Yilan Mountains

The Central Weather Administration (CWA) issued a heavy rain warning on June 7. Convective cloud systems are developing vigorously, making short-duration heavy rainfall likely. Today, New Taipei City and the mountainous areas of Yilan County are expected to see localized heavy or torrential rain. Northern, southern, and Yilan regions, as well as mountainous areas in central Taiwan and Hualien, have a chance of localized heavy rain. The CWA urges the public to beware of lightning and strong gusts, and to guard against landslides, falling rocks, and rapidly rising streams in mountainous areas. Low-lying areas should also be alert for flooding and standing water.
