(CNA reporter Yang Szu-jui, Tainan, 7th) A 39-year-old man from Taitung County, surnamed Qiu, who was delivering vegetables to Tainan by car with a friend on the 5th, angrily got out of the vehicle after an argument and went missing as he did not have his phone or ID. His family posted on social media for help, and police proactively assisted, finding him in Yongkang District yesterday and notifying his family to take him home.
Lin Ching-hsiang, head of the Yanxing Police Station of the Tainan City Police Department's Yongkang Precinct, told a CNA reporter today that officer Yen Wei-tung discovered a social media post about a missing family member in Tainan while conducting an online patrol yesterday. He learned that the missing Mr. Qiu, besides having difficulty expressing himself clearly, was not carrying any ID or communication devices like a mobile phone.
Lin stated that after an enthusiastic netizen mentioned seeing a man with similar features on Changhe Road Section 1, in Annan District, officers searched the nearby area. They found a man matching the description on a sidewalk bench along Shuiyang Road in Yongkang District. Upon approaching to show concern and ask questions, they confirmed he was the missing Mr. Qiu. They then took him back to the station, provided tea and snacks, and simultaneously notified his family.
After receiving the police notification, Mr. Qiu's sister rushed to the police station. She told the police that her brother lives with their father in Taitung and had come to Tainan's Bingzai Market in Yongkang District on the 5th to deliver vegetables with a friend. However, they argued while passing through the North District, and he angrily got out of the car and left. Their father, far away in Taitung, was so worried he couldn't sleep all night. She expressed her gratitude to the police for their proactive help. (Editor: Chang Ming-kun) 1150607
