Taiwan's Foreign Minister Lin meets AUVSI chair, encourages international drone expo in Taiwan

Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung met today with Michael Robbins, Chair of the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), stating that the Ministry is actively promoting 'drone diplomacy' and looks forward to cooperating with AUVSI to advance talent training, promote Green and Blue Uncrewed Vehicle Systems (UAS) certification, and encouraged the association to hold an international-level unmanned vehicle exhibition in Taiwan.

Lin posted on Facebook this evening, noting that he met with AUVSI Chair Michael Robbins at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.

Lin explained that Taiwan possesses a complete supply chain in semiconductors, AI, electronics manufacturing, and ICT industries, making it a core force in building a non-red supply chain for unmanned vehicles. The Ministry is also actively promoting 'drone diplomacy' to strengthen strategic links between Taiwan and its democratic partners.

Lin pointed out that through the Ministry's efforts, Taiwan and the US signed the 'Silicon盛世 Declaration and Joint Statement on Taiwan-US Economic Security Cooperation' after the 'Economic Prosperity Partnership Dialogue' held earlier this year, setting seven key areas of cooperation, including the unmanned vehicle supply chain. This further facilitated the establishment of a cooperative relationship between the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and AUVSI.

Lin stated that to deepen international cooperation, the Ministry has established a 'Drone Diplomacy Task Force' and is setting up an 'International Drone Academy' to strengthen talent cultivation, technology exchange, and industrial linkages among democratic nations. He looks forward to cooperating with AUVSI to promote talent training, promote Green/Blue UAS certification, and encouraged AUVSI to hold an international-level unmanned vehicle exhibition in Taiwan.

Robbins, who had just visited COMPUTEX Taipei, affirmed Taiwan's capability to host large-scale international exhibitions and emphasized that Taiwan's outstanding manufacturing strength is crucial to the global development of the unmanned vehicle industry. While holding an exhibition in Taiwan involves multiple considerations, he expressed willingness to actively evaluate the proposal.

Lin explained that AUVSI is the world's most influential international organization for unmanned vehicles, having long assisted the US government in formulating related policies and technical standards. In recent years, AUVSI has actively promoted the Green UAS certification, establishing a trusted standard for unmanned vehicles through rigorous cybersecurity and supply chain security reviews.

Lin mentioned that the Green UAS label signifies compliance with commercial and civilian market demands. This standard has now become a crucial cornerstone for building a 'non-red supply chain.'
