Li Hao-Yu Returns to Triple-A with 2 Hits, 3 RBIs; 'Long' Also Gets a Hit in Same Game

(Central News Agency, Taipei, 4th) Taiwanese baseball prospect Li Hao-Yu of the Detroit Tigers, after being optioned to Triple-A yesterday, bounced back today with 2 hits and 3 RBIs, helping his team defeat the Chicago Cubs' Triple-A affiliate 10-2. Jonathon "Long" Long, a Taiwanese-American player for the Cubs' Triple-A team, also went 1-for-4 in the same game.

The Tigers chose to option Li to Triple-A to maintain his playing frequency after injured players returned. Li started as the fifth batter and second baseman. In his first at-bat in the top of the 2nd inning, he flied out. In the top of the 4th, he reached base on a fielder's choice after hitting a ground ball.

In the top of the 6th, Li hit a hard single with an exit velocity of 105.9 mph, driving in a runner from second base for an RBI. He advanced to second base on an outfield error and later scored on a teammate's hit. In the top of the 8th, he cleared the bases with a double to left field, driving in two more runs.

Li flied out in the top of the 9th. He finished the game 2-for-5 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored, bringing his batting average to .194.

Meanwhile, Jonathon Long, playing for the Cubs' Triple-A team, started as the third batter and first baseman. He singled in the bottom of the 1st inning but was retired in his next three at-bats, striking out once and grounding out twice. He finished 1-for-4, with a batting average of .258.
