(Central News Agency, Taitung County, 4th, reporter Lu Taicheng) Recently, several tourists and weed removal workers have been stung by bees around the ring road of 'Living Water Lake,' a popular sports and recreation spot in Taitung City. After receiving reports, the county government dispatched personnel to inspect the area and remove the beehive, and reminded the public to take preventive measures when visiting the area in the near future.

Pu Min-cheng, Director of the Taitung County Government's Tourism Development Department, told CNA today that Living Water Lake has a beautiful natural environment and is a venue for walking and jogging. He noted that summer is a season of frequent bee activity, and some hives may be hidden deep in dense trees or grass, making them hard to detect, which led to some people and workers being stung.

He said that after receiving reports of tourists and workers being stung, the county government immediately activated its emergency response mechanism, dispatched personnel to inspect the ring road, discovered a palm-sized beehive, and quickly removed it.

Director Pu stated that to ensure the safety of the recreational environment at Living Water Lake, the county government will continue to strengthen patrols and weeding operations in the surrounding area. He also reminded the public to take preventive measures when visiting the area, including wearing light-colored, smooth long-sleeved shirts and pants, and a hat. People should not provoke bees; if they find bees hovering nearby, they should not wave their hands to drive them away or try to swat them, but should remain calm and quietly leave the area quickly.

If unfortunately stung, do not squeeze the wound. Leave the area as soon as possible, wash the wound with clean water, and apply ice for observation. If severe allergic reactions such as difficulty breathing or dizziness occur, seek medical attention immediately.

The Taitung County Government stated that while Living Water Lake boasts beautiful natural scenery and lakeside views, the area is also home to various birds, animals, insects, and wildlife. Ensuring safety during travel, recreation, and outdoor activities is the top priority. The county government will continue to closely monitor the ecology around Living Water Lake. If tourists discover beehive traces in the area, they are urged to report them immediately so that personnel can be dispatched for handling, working together to maintain a safe and secure leisure environment.
