Matsu Distillery's Nangan Plant 2 to Begin Commercial Production on New Year's Day 2025, Also Serves as Tourist Factory

Matsu Distillery announced on the 3rd that its Nangan Plant 2, covering 2.6 hectares, is scheduled to begin trial operations on November 1 of this year and start full commercial production on New Year's Day next year. After production begins, the annual output is expected to reach 1 million liters, and the facility will also serve as a tourist factory.

The Lienchiang County Council conducted a county government inspection visit to the Matsu Urban-Rural Characteristic Industrial Park and Matsu Distillery's Nangan Plant 2 on the afternoon of the 3rd. Liu Jiu-ming, General Manager of Matsu Distillery Industrial Co., Ltd., stated in a briefing that the construction of Nangan Plant 2 will be completed on December 19 of this year. Regarding the production schedule, trial operations are expected to begin on November 1, with full commercial production starting on New Year's Day next year.

Liu indicated that Nangan Plant 2 will also incorporate tourist factory functions. The design firm was awarded the contract in May, and subsequent research and revision meetings will be held, with the detailed design plan expected to be finalized in December. Additionally, public art installations will be set up within the plant area, with installation and acceptance inspection targeted for completion by the end of next year.

Liu noted that Nangan Plant 2 is located within the Matsu Urban-Rural Characteristic Industrial Park. The administrative center building in the park is already completed. The first floor is planned by the Lienchiang County Government's Department of Industrial Development as a production and sales center, which will be opened for external leasing. The second and third floors will be leased by Matsu Distillery for employee offices and dining. A skybridge will connect the administrative center and Nangan Plant 2.

Several councilors pointed out on-site that the construction of Nangan Plant 2 has been delayed by over 100 days, and since the pandemic has passed, there should theoretically be no issues like labor or material shortages requiring an extension. They urged the county government to push the contractor to accelerate work. Liu expressed hope that the council would support a lenient extension. He stated that if an extension is not granted, the contractor might request mediation from the Public Construction Commission of the Executive Yuan.

According to Lienchiang County Government press materials, the Matsu Urban-Rural Characteristic Industrial Park covers 14.62 hectares and includes the administrative center, a wastewater treatment plant, Matsu Distillery's Nangan Plant 2, and the Yijinna Pastry Museum. Nangan Plant 2 covers 2.6 hectares with a floor area of 6,172 ping. It adopts a solid-state production process with two steaming and two fermentation cycles. After production begins, it is expected to produce 1 million liters of solid-state pure grain kaoliang liquor annually.
