Cheng Li-wun Arrives in San Francisco: 'Conveying Taiwan's Desire for Peace to the US'

Central News Agency, Taipei, June 2 — A delegation led by Kuomintang (KMT) Chair Cheng Li-wun arrived in San Francisco today, marking the start of a two-week visit to the United States. Cheng stated that the primary purpose of this trip is to convey the true voice of the Taiwanese people, who yearn for peace, to various sectors in the US and international friends. Peace is not only a common aspiration of the Taiwanese people but also a crucial foundation for maintaining regional prosperity and development. Cheng departed for the US last night. The KMT announced today that the delegation had arrived in San Francisco, where Cheng expressed her gratitude to the overseas compatriots who came to the airport to welcome them, engaging in exchanges with them. Cheng noted that overseas compatriots have long cared about Taiwan's development and have always been an important bridge connecting Taiwan to the international community. She expressed deep appreciation for their passion and contributions in supporting the Republic of China and the KMT over the years. Cheng also emphasized that what Taiwanese society expects is a stable cross-strait relationship and a future where the next generation can develop with peace of mind. The KMT will continue to uphold the principles of promoting dialogue, reducing risks, and avoiding conflict, working with the international community to safeguard peace in the Taiwan Strait and regional stability. According to the KMT, the delegation is scheduled to hold a discussion at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University tomorrow morning, attend events with the San Francisco overseas community in the afternoon, visit the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in San Francisco, and attend a banquet in the evening.
