Taiwan's May Motorcycle Registrations Grow, Benefiting from Market Recovery

According to industry statistics, Taiwan's motorcycle registrations in May totaled 61,541 units, a slight increase from 60,848 in April and a 10.4% growth compared to 55,743 in the same period of 2025. The cumulative registrations for the first five months of this year reached 296,092 units, surpassing the 269,946 units recorded in the same period of 2025. Industry players noted that the overall motorcycle market sentiment continues to warm up. Observing individual brands, SYM recorded 26,116 registrations in May, holding a 42.4% market share, while Kymco had 16,254 registrations, holding a 26.4% share. Yamaha recorded 11,410 units (18.5% share), and Gogoro recorded 3,600 units (5.8% share). Gogoro pointed out that its May registrations hit an 18-month high, up 15.46% from April's 3,118 units and a significant 76.38% increase from 2,041 units in the same period last year. Regarding the electric motorcycle market, industry sources stated it remains on a steady upward trend, with total sales of 4,273 units in May, a 9.93% increase from 3,887 in April. With the summer graduation season approaching, a summer buying spree is expected. Cumulative registrations for the first five months show SYM at 126,483 units (42.7% share), Kymco at 77,182 units (26.1% share), Yamaha at 59,017 units (19.9% share), and Gogoro at 12,933 units (4.4% share).
