Shen Bo-yang Discusses Taipei Mayoral Race, Hopes to Focus on Municipal Issues and Global Perspective

Challenging for the Taipei mayoral seat, DPP candidate Shen Bo-yang stated today that he possesses professional expertise in urban planning and can discuss municipal affairs in plain language. He aims to propose a clear vision and solve pain points, ensuring the Taipei mayoral race focuses on municipal discussions and international perspectives. Shen was interviewed at noon today by Huang Kuang-chin on the CNEWS program 'Lunchtime Open Forum.' When asked why DPP Chairman Lai Ching-te chose him to challenge incumbent Chiang Wan-an, Shen replied that his professional background in urban ecology, criminology, and urban design makes him well-qualified. He also emphasized his teaching experience, which allows him to communicate effectively with the public. Shen mentioned two expectations from Chairman Lai: first, to discuss international affairs given Taipei's status as the capital; and second, to engage with citizens at markets and parks rather than staying in an ivory tower. Regarding the Beitou-Shilin Technology Park (Beishike) and substation issues, Shen explained that he had discussed the integration of substations and charging stations with Taipower to support the electrification of public buses. Addressing concerns about Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang's comments on energy, Shen clarified that the issue was a translation error by some media, emphasizing that both energy supply and power transmission systems are essential. Finally, he addressed questions regarding his financial declaration and past hobbies, explaining his financial philosophy and confirming he is currently focused on the campaign.
