Chiu I-jen: President Lai Continues Tsai Ing-wen's Line, Upholding Cross-Strait Status Quo

Former National Security Council Secretary-General Chiu I-jen stated that President Lai Ching-te's cross-strait policy continues the line of former President Tsai Ing-wen, maintaining the status quo that the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China are not subordinate to each other. Chiu refuted the label of 'resilient Taiwan independence,' arguing that Lai's focus on strengthening national resilience is a necessary response to China's growing infiltration and influence operations. Chiu noted that China's influence has deepened across economic, personnel, religious, and media sectors. According to national security statistics, the number of people indicted for espionage in 2024 was more than triple that of 2021. Chiu emphasized that Lai's establishment of the 'All-Out Defense Resilience Committee' is crucial for integrating military and civilian resources to enhance national security and crisis management capabilities.
