63-Year-Old Man Arrested for Installing Spy Camera in National Taipei University of Education Restroom

Central News Agency, Taipei, May 30. A spy camera was discovered in a women's restroom at the National Taipei University of Education. After students reported the incident to the school, police arrested a 63-year-old suspect in Tamsui District, New Taipei City, yesterday. He was referred to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office this afternoon on charges of violating privacy. The Taipei City Police Department's Da'an Precinct received a report around 6:00 PM on the 28th regarding a suspected recording device in a campus restroom. Officers arrived to conduct an investigation. The task force reviewed numerous surveillance videos and identified a man wearing a hat and mask as a suspect. Further investigation revealed the man, a 63-year-old resident of Tamsui, had no affiliation with the university. Under the direction of the Taipei District Prosecutors Office, police searched his home in Tamsui yesterday, seizing computers, mobile phones, and memory cards. He was referred to the prosecutors this afternoon.
