China's Ministry of Education: Continuously Promoting Two-Way Exchanges Between U.S. and Chinese Youth

During his visit to the United States in November 2023, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that China is willing to invite 50,000 American youth to China for exchange and study over the next five years. The Chinese Ministry of Education recently stated that it will continue to encourage schools across the country to expand the scale of exchanges and promote the development of two-way exchanges between Chinese and American youth in a institutionalized and sustainable manner. According to a report by Xinhua News Agency on the 29th, an official from the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Education stated that in the two and a half years since the launch of the "50,000 in 5 years" initiative, more than 50,000 American youth have been invited to China for exchanges, visiting 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, including Beijing, Hebei, Shanghai, and Zhejiang, as well as Hong Kong and Macau. The content of the exchanges covers cultural experiences, language learning, summer and winter camps, scientific and technological exchanges, competitions, as well as credit-earning and degree-seeking programs in China. The initiative, announced by Xi Jinping during his visit to the U.S. in November 2023, aims to expand exchanges between the people of China and the U.S., especially among the younger generation.
