Visiting Taiwan After 6 Years, Vystrčil: A Gift for Democracy Advocate Havel

According to the Central News Agency, Czech Senate President Miloš Vystrčil will visit Taiwan again in early June, his second visit since August 2020. In an interview before his departure, Vystrčil said, "I am looking forward to visiting Taiwan again, and most importantly, meeting the Taiwanese people, who are very friendly." He emphasized that the primary purpose of the visit is mutual support, stating that as free and democratic nations, they should stand together. The visit coincides with the 90th anniversary of the birth of Václav Havel, the first president of the Czech Republic and a symbol of democracy. Vystrčil described the trip as a "gift to Havel." During his visit, he will attend a symposium on Havel at National Chengchi University and the unveiling of "Havel's Bench." He also highlighted the progress in bilateral relations over the past six years, including the launch of direct flights between Taipei and Prague and cooperation in semiconductors and academia.
