Lee Sichuan proposes Lushe Bridge; Su Chiao-hui says Taipei's consensus is key

Central News Agency (New Taipei, 28th) KMT New Taipei mayoral candidate Lee Sichuan reiterated that if elected, he would build the Lushe Bridge to connect with the Beitou-Shilin Technology Park (Beishike) and create an AI industrial corridor. DPP candidate Su Chiao-hui stated that if Taipei City can reach a consensus with Shezi Island residents, she would welcome the project. Lee Sichuan attended a local forum in Luzhou last night, stating that he would fully commit to building the Lushe Bridge to improve traffic congestion and reduce commuting time for New Taipei residents. He also noted that in response to NVIDIA's future entry into Beishike, the bridge would connect Beishike, Luzhou, and Wugu, and combined with light rail extensions and the Provincial Highway 64 and 65 expressways, it would link to technology parks in Banqiao and Tucheng to create an AI industrial corridor and drive job opportunities. Regarding elderly care, Lee reaffirmed his plan to allow 300 of the 600 points on the senior citizen card to be used as a "EasyCard" for medical expenses, medicine, health supplements, and daily necessities. Su Chiao-hui visited the old Lo-Sheng Sanatorium today, advocating for the preservation of the "Wang-shaped building" and the establishment of a "National Lo-Sheng Medical Human Rights Cultural Center." Regarding Lee's Lushe Bridge proposal, Su said, "The issue with the bridge has never been in New Taipei City; it has always been in Taipei City. If Taipei City can reach a consensus with Shezi Island residents and solve ecological issues, we welcome major infrastructure projects." Regarding nuclear energy, Su emphasized that "nuclear safety, a solution for nuclear waste, and public consensus" are three indispensable prerequisites. On power issues, she noted it is a matter of substations, praised Taipei City for accepting Taipower's suggestions, and highlighted her track record of promoting the indoor conversion of substations in Xinzhuang.
