New Taipei: Banqiao's Aesthetic Clinic and Xinzhuang's Guangze Clinic Confirmed for Voyeurism; Suspended for 6 Months

As investigations into voyeurism at aesthetic clinics continue, the New Taipei City Government announced today that the Banqiao Aesthetic Clinic and Xinzhuang Guangze Clinic were confirmed to have used disguised surveillance cameras to film patient privacy. They have been fined 500,000 TWD each and ordered to suspend operations for six months for violating the Medical Care Act. The Health Bureau stated that after the scandal broke, the city launched a cross-departmental anti-voyeurism inspection project, covering 172 clinics so far. The clinics involved were found to have seriously infringed on patient privacy. The Bureau noted that while the footage at the Banqiao clinic was initially formatted, police investigation restored it, confirming the use of disguised devices. This constitutes a violation of Article 108, Paragraph 6 of the Medical Care Act regarding 'improper business practices that harm public morals or human health.' Both clinics were deemed to have acted with intent. The city will continue to cooperate with judicial investigations and strictly punish any further violations. Medical institutions are urged to immediately review their surveillance setups and patient consent mechanisms.
