Cloud Gate's 'Lunar Halo' Invited to Bregenz Spring Dance Festival as Only Asian Troupe

Taipei, May 28 (CNA). Cloud Gate Dance Theatre's production 'Lunar Halo' will be performed at the Bregenz Spring Dance Festival in Austria, making it the only Asian dance troupe invited to this year's event. Founded in 1987, the Bregenz Spring Dance Festival is one of Europe's most important contemporary dance festivals. Cloud Gate previously performed 'Water Stains' there in 2015, and this marks their return after 10 years. 'Lunar Halo,' created in 2020, was inspired by Artistic Director Cheng Tsung-lung's experience returning to nature during the pandemic. The music, composed by Zhang Xuan, is tailored to each dancer's vocal range, with soundscapes by Lim Giong. Before the Bregenz performance, the troupe performed in Ludwigsburg, Germany, to great acclaim. 'Lunar Halo' is also scheduled to be performed at the Berlin Arts Festival and the Turin Dance Festival later this year.
