Elevator malfunctions at Nangang Depot Social Housing; Taipei Housing Center prioritizes repairs

Central News Agency (Taipei, 28th) Residents of the Nangang Depot Social Housing Phase 1 in Taipei have complained about frequent elevator malfunctions. The Taipei Housing and Urban Regeneration Center stated today that it has prioritized the inspection and handling of the elevators in response to resident feedback and will continue to track equipment maintenance and operational status. The Nangang Depot Social Housing Phase 1 is located above the MRT Nangang Depot base on the south side of Section 7, Zhongxiao East Road. It consists of two 27-story buildings providing 1,442 units and was opened for leasing last July. However, residents have reported that within less than six months of moving in, elevators frequently malfunction and have even experienced dangerous sudden drops, with problems persisting despite multiple repair requests. Regarding the equipment usage, the Taipei Housing and Urban Regeneration Center stated that it notifies professional maintenance contractors to perform repairs whenever it receives reports from residents. Regarding the elevator abnormalities, in addition to notifying professional contractors, the center has suspended usage and posted notices to remind residents, resuming service only after confirming the equipment is operating normally. The center stated that the Department of Urban Development is working with the warranty contractor and a third-party notary agency to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the elevator equipment. They are prioritizing the elevators mentioned by residents and will continue to track maintenance and operations to protect resident safety and living quality.
