DPP National Congress Set for July 19; Lai Ching-te Orders All-Out Effort for Year-End Elections

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) will hold its National Party Congress on July 19 at the Taipei International Convention Center. DPP Chairman Lai Ching-te encouraged newly elected and re-elected party branch chairs today to uphold the spirit of 'integrity, diligence, and love for the homeland' while fulfilling their duties. He emphasized that the year-end local elections are crucial to the party's future policy direction and the nation's long-term development, urging the entire party to assist candidates in winning. During the Central Executive Committee meeting, Secretary-General Hsu Kuo-yung reported on the results of the May 24 party official elections and the upcoming congress. Lai noted that among the 30 branch chairs, 11 were re-elected and 19 are new. He expressed gratitude to outgoing officials and urged the new ones to carry on the party's founding spirit. Lai stressed that regardless of their position, all party members must work together to ensure the victory of nominated candidates in the year-end elections.
