As it is the breeding season for many birds, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) has partnered with Xinchang Ecological Research to launch a live stream of Black Kite nests today, with Crested Serpent Eagle streams also ongoing. Kenting National Park Headquarters has also launched a live stream of Black-naped Monarchs currently in the incubation stage. NPUST and Xinchang Ecological Research are providing 24-hour live streams of raptor breeding. Lin Hui-shan, head of Xinchang Ecological Research, stated that the live stream is a way to connect with nature and achieve environmental education. Viewers can observe the food brought back by parent birds, raising awareness about food safety for raptors. Huang Yun-chieh, a research assistant at NPUST, noted that the Black Kite nest is in a tree in a private garden in the northern Pingtung suburbs, and the chick is currently 30 days old. The team also discovered a Crested Serpent Eagle nest nearby, providing a rare observation opportunity. Meanwhile, the Kenting National Park Headquarters is focusing its camera on the Black-naped Monarch, known as the 'little blue elf.' Yang Cheng-feng, a staff member at the headquarters, pointed out that the nest is located outside the office, and two eggs were discovered in mid-May. The parent birds are currently taking turns incubating the eggs, and the chicks are expected to hatch soon. The stream runs from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Yang hopes that by showing wildlife breeding near human society, it will remind people that humans and animals can coexist peacefully.
