Classmethod Releases '2026 Japan Corporate AI Adoption Survey' Based on AI Diagnostics of 462 Companies

Classmethod Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Satoshi Yokota) has released the '2026 Japan Corporate AI Adoption Survey,' summarizing the results of its 'Corporate AI Diagnostic Survey.' Based on 462 valid responses from 443 companies, it is clear that Japanese companies have moved past the discussion of 'whether to use' AI and have entered the phase of active utilization. The study reveals a clear divide based on company scale, as well as the existence of polar opposite groups that defy these trends.

AIXC (AI Experience Center) is a support organization founded in October 2025 to promote AI/AX (AI Transformation) for Japanese companies.

The report is available for free download from the dedicated page starting today. Additionally, companies that participate in an follow-up survey (10 questions, 5 minutes) by June 20, 2026, will receive a free, detailed diagnostic report (Report C) tailored to their company size and adoption pattern.

### Key Findings of the Survey

This survey highlighted the following four points:

- The discussion on 'whether to use' is over: 83.3% of companies feel a sense of crisis regarding competitors' AI adoption. 47.8% have reached Lv4-5 (production deployment) of AI utilization, rising to 62.7% among large enterprises. - 62.1% of challenges have shifted to 'How' (utilization and governance): Issues such as governance, security, use-case selection, and data infrastructure take priority. - Clear gaps exist by company scale: Large enterprises (avg. 80.2 points) > mid-sized enterprises (73.8 points) > small and medium-sized enterprises (64.3 points). - However, size is not the only deciding factor: 25.3% of large enterprises remain stuck at 'individual usage,' while 18.3% of small and medium-sized enterprises are leading as 'AI+Leaders.'

### Survey Background

As corporate adoption of AI progresses, many companies lack objective ways to measure their current position. Classmethod developed the 'Corporate AI Diagnostic' to annually track the AI adoption level of Japanese companies and conducted the first iteration in April 2026. It adopts the three categories including the 'mid-sized enterprise' classification newly established by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) in 2024.
