Commemorating Toyohashi City's 120th Anniversary! Talk event with Tae Sano and Takibi Amamori on August 1st - Applications open from June 1st

Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, will celebrate its 120th anniversary on Saturday, August 1, 2026. To mark the occasion, the city will hold a lecture featuring manga artist Tae Sano, creator of "Damonde Toyohashi ga Suki tte Iittoru jan!", and novelist Takibi Amamori, creator of "Make Heroine ga Oosugiru!", both of whom are from Toyohashi. Applications to attend are now open.

The 120th anniversary lecture will take place from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM on August 1 at the Main Hall of the Toyohashi Arts Theatre PLAT. The event will take the form of a dialogue between the two, with the content to be revealed on the day. It is expected to be a discussion filled with love for Toyohashi, the setting of their works.

The capacity is 600 people, with 300 spots prioritized for residents of Toyohashi. All seats are reserved. Admission is free, but prior application is required. Applications are open to those of junior high school age and older, and are being accepted via the Toyohashi City website until June 14.

Each application is for one person only (the applicant), though each applicant can also register up to two children of elementary school age or younger as companions. A lottery will be held in case of excess applications. 200 people who are unsuccessful in the lottery can watch a live broadcast of the event in the Art Space within the PLAT building.

Attendees, including those in the Art Space, will receive a commemorative A4 clear file printed with an original illustration by Sano and an original short story by Amamori.

Winners will be notified by mail by Friday, July 10.
