Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, and AEON Co., Ltd. signed a comprehensive partnership agreement on Monday, April 20, 2026. The aim is to further revitalize the region and improve citizen services by effectively utilizing each other's resources.
AEON Toyohashi Minami Store, which opened in 1997, has been a community-rooted base in Toyohashi City for many years.
Toyohashi City and the AEON Group have collaborated in areas such as disaster prevention and environmental protection. This comprehensive partnership agreement will enable broader collaboration, leveraging the scale merits of the AEON Group, and strengthening the resolution of regional issues.
Specifically, they will collaborate and cooperate on 8 items: childcare and education; industry; safety and security in daily life; health, medical care, and welfare; culture and sports; tourism promotion; environmental conservation; and cooperation on other initiatives.
Signing Ceremony on April 20
The agreement signing ceremony was held at Toyohashi City Hall on Monday, April 20, attended by relevant parties. Mr. Naohiro Osugi, Executive Officer and Chubu Company Branch Manager of AEON Retail Co., Ltd., introduced the past collaborations with Toyohashi City and expressed his aspirations: "With this comprehensive partnership agreement as an opportunity, we will further deepen our collaboration and promote initiatives aimed at solving regional issues and developing the region."
Mayor Naoto Nagasaka also expressed his gratitude for the past cooperation and initiatives, and conveyed his expectations for this comprehensive partnership agreement: "We are very encouraged by this, and we will firmly collaborate not only in the fields of disaster prevention and environment but also in areas such as childcare, health, medical care, welfare, and sports."
Past Cooperation Achievements
Toyohashi City, AEON, and AEON Group companies have collaborated and accumulated achievements to date.
They have concluded agreements such as the one concerning cooperation in the supply of emergency living necessities during disasters, and the agreement concerning the provision of "Cool Share Spots" to escape the heat.
In terms of disaster prevention, since 2023, the "Toyohashi Disaster Prevention Festival" has been held in the parking lot of AEON Toyohashi Minami Store to raise awareness of regional disaster prevention.
