Last year, 20,000 visitors! Toyohashi downtown becomes a street performance theater during Golden Week & Flower Exchange Fair and Marche also held

Last year saw over 20,000 visitors! The Toyohashi Art Festival 2026 "Street Performance in Toyohashi," "O-sanpo Marche," and "Flower Exchange Fair 2026" will once again be held during Golden Week this year.

This event, which started in 2012 and is now in its 15th year, allows visitors to enjoy dynamic street performances and delicious food while touring various venues in downtown Toyohashi. Centered around "Street Performance in Toyohashi," various other events such as "O-sanpo Marche" and "Flower Exchange Fair 2026" will also take place.

**May 4th & 5th: Toyohashi Art Festival 2026 "Street Performance in Toyohashi"**

The usual downtown Toyohashi will transform entirely into a theater!

World-class street performers specializing in mime, acrobatics, jazz, and more will perform at various locations in downtown Toyohashi.

In 2026, a total of 15 groups of street performers will appear on May 4th and 5th. Seven of these groups are making their debut in Toyohashi! On the evening of the 4th, a special live performance by Naoki Takeuchi The Organic Resonations will also be held (admission free, numbered tickets required).

* **Solampo Solan (Aerial & Juggling)**
Watch out for beautiful aerial acts and juggling in the sky!
* **Kento Yoshikawa (Juggling & Balance)**
First time in Toyohashi! A globally acclaimed juggler & artist. You might even see a tightrope walk?!
* **China Acrobatic Troupe (Chinese Acrobatics)**
The continuous display of spectacular skills, showcasing honed bodies with balance, contortion, and acrobatics, is a must-see.
* **Tsutsujigaoka Junior Marching Band**
Continuously participating in national competitions! Formed 19 years ago, this band, consisting of 3rd graders to 3rd year middle school students, will deliver a powerful performance.

With thrilling street performances and powerful instrumentals, this is a rare opportunity to experience art firsthand, guaranteed to be enjoyed by both adults and children.

Also, on May 5th, "Children's Day," performances by children active in Toyohashi will be presented on the Free Phrase Stage.

There will be a timetable for each venue, and this year, in addition to the usual PLAT North side and Toyohashi Station South Exit Plaza, Matsuba Park will be added as a new venue.

On the 5th, Hirokoji Itchome will become a pedestrian paradise (traffic regulations from 10:00 to 17:00), and a receipt lottery will be held.

Inside the Tokiwa Arcade, as a new initiative, visitors can enjoy chalk art experience and paper craft creation by the "Art Seed-Sowing Team."

**May 4th & 5th: "Aozora Cafe" where you can enjoy street performances while eating**

As a satellite venue for "Street Performance in Toyohashi," you can enjoy delicious gourmet food while watching street performances!

Approximately 5 shops will open at Toyohashi Station South Exit Plaza, and about 8 shops at Downtown Plaza.

**May 5th: "O-sanpo Marche" with 26 shops, fun to stroll around**

A marche with 26 shops will be held from the south side of Matsuba Park on Kayanomachi Street to Ekimae-odori. You can purchase baked goods and experience workshops.

**May 3rd-5th: The 31st "Flower Exchange Fair 2026," a flower festival continuing since 1996!**

The "Flower Exchange Fair 2026" is an event to deepen connections between people through flowers and foster affection for flowers.

Around the fountain plaza in Toyohashi Park, GW in Toyohashi Park will be colored with flowers and greenery, featuring handmade flowerbed displays, drawing contests, and workshops like potted plant making. Kitchen cars and a flea market will also be held.

**May 4th & 6th: "Downtown Library GW Event" also featuring Mikawa dialect karuta making!**

The Downtown Library will host an event with the theme "Let's get creative!"

In the workshop "Let's make Mikawa Dialect Karuta," participants will create reading cards from photos and play with the completed karuta.

Also, in the talk event "Small Publishing: How I Deliver My Illustrations," insights into the creative process and the joy of creation will be shared.

In addition, guided tours of the library by staff and theater screenings will be held.

**May 3rd & 5th: "Pop-up Koko-Niko" and "Pop-up Child-Rearing Plaza" from the temporarily closed Children's Future Museum**

(New experience set: "A set that makes you laugh and hungry")

On May 3rd, a workshop will be held at the Downtown Library where visitors can play with the Children's Future Museum's "New Experience Set." On the 5th, at Matsuba Park, in addition to workshops, "Children CEOs" who are learning business management at the Children's Future Museum will operate challenge shops such as craft experience game corners and a flea market, and kitchen cars will also be present.
