The 'Children's Book Day' (April 23) and 'Children's Book Week' (April 23–May 12) were established to deepen interest and understanding of children's reading activities and to boost their motivation to read. To help children enjoy books, Toyohashi City libraries have been hosting the 'Library Children's Festa' since March 21, 2026 (Sat), as a commemorative event. Period: March 21 (Sat) – May 10 (Sun), 2026. Locations: Central Library, Mukaiyama Library, Ooshimizu Library, Machinaka Library. Target: Elementary school students and younger. Participation is free, and no registration is required! On the first day, March 21, the 'Cardboard Maze Escape Operation' began at the Central Library, alongside the popular 'Director's Storytime.' The event features a giant cardboard maze, a dinosaur quiz rally, and interactive storytime sessions led by the library director, who actively engages with children to make the library feel more accessible. Additionally, handmade panel theaters are used to help children focus and understand stories visually. The staff are highly trained and dedicated to creating a fun, welcoming environment for all visitors.
