On Wednesday, June 10th, Bushiroad Inc. (Headquarters: Nakano-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Takaaki Kidani), a company involved in the planning, production, and promotion of manga and anime, donated original design manhole covers featuring "Ato Takamatsu," a character from the TV anime "BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!!," whose story is set in Toshima Ward, including Ikebukuro.

Background of the Manhole Cover Donation

Toshima Ward is promoting the creation of a vibrant town bustling with domestic and international visitors by refining and strategically promoting regional resources such as manga and anime as its unique brand. The TV anime "BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!!" features five characters whose names are derived from place names within the ward, and its story is set in spots around Ikebukuro. In the past, the ward has collaborated on projects such as digital stamp rallies and with IKEBUS. This donation was realized through these deep connections.

At the donation ceremony, Toshima Ward Mayor Miyuki Takagiwa commented, "I sincerely thank you for donating the design manhole covers of a work that has ties to our ward. This work, set in Ikebukuro, depicts characters whose names originate from place names in Toshima Ward, as they wander, struggle, and yet strive to move forward. I deeply resonate with the message, 'It's okay to be lost, keep moving forward even if you're lost.' As deputy mayor, I launched the "Suzuran Smile Project" to support young women facing difficulties in life. We will continue to advance ward administration that firmly embraces the voices of young people who, like Ato and the others, are trying to take a step forward while grappling with their challenges."

About "BanG Dream! (Bandori!)"

A next-generation girls band project where characters and live performances are linked. It is developed across various media, including anime, games, and live concerts. The voice actors of the bands appearing in the work, "Poppin'Party," "Roselia," "Morfonica," "RAISE A SUILEN," "MyGO!!!!!," "Ave Mujica," and "Yume Mita My Type," have formed actual bands and are actively engaged in live performances with real instruments.

"BanG Dream!," which celebrated its 11th anniversary on February 28, 2026, is currently distributing the mini-anime "Ganso! Bandori-chan" in 52 episodes over a year.
