Toshima Ward and DAIKEN Corporation (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Osaka; President: Tadayoshi Kiyosu) opened the 'Senkawa Community Garden' on Saturday, June 6, 2026, on vacant municipal land.
This project is the first to be implemented under the 'Toshima Ward Business Proposal System by Enterprises, etc.' for fiscal year 2025. With the goal of creating multi-generational community ties and preventing isolation and loneliness, DAIKEN Corporation, the project operator, utilized the former site of the Senkawa Junior High School pool to develop a community garden (shared farm) for local residents.
The garden is fully equipped with all necessary tools, allowing users to visit in their everyday clothes 'hands-free.' Professional staff are on hand to support visitors, ensuring even those new to farming can participate with peace of mind. The garden selects crops suited to the environment to ensure year-round harvests, and also hosts harvest events and marches open to everyone. Through this garden, the project provides a space where anyone can easily engage in agricultural experiences and food education, while addressing educational disparities for children through public-private co-creation.
