Approximately 150,000 Japanese primroses are currently in peak bloom at the Mountain Wildflower Garden in Utsue Shijuhattaki Park, a prefectural natural park in Kokufu-cho, Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture. A Garden of Colors Spreading in the Forest

The Mountain Wildflower Garden is a vast natural area of approximately 35,000 square meters within Utsue Shijuhattaki Park. In addition to the Japanese primroses, about 20,000 Lilium japonicum and about 5,000 hydrangeas also bloom in season. From late May to July, the wildflowers bloom one after another, allowing visitors to enjoy forest bathing alongside the flowers.

Japanese primrose (Kurin-so) is a perennial plant of the Primulaceae family that grows in wetlands in mountainous areas. It is said to have been named 'Kurin-so' because the appearance of the flowers blooming in a ring around the stem resembles the 'Kurin' (nine rings) of a temple pagoda.
