Kotomi Yamazaki of Takatsuki City Reports World Cheerleading Championship Victory to Mayor

On Tuesday, June 30, 2024, Kotomi Yamazaki (22 years old), a resident of Takatsuki City, visited Takatsuki City Hall. She reported to Mayor Takeshi Hamada that her cheer dance team, "APEX Dance World," had won the "THE DANCE WORLDS 2026" Open Pom division held in Florida, USA, on April 25th and 26th.

Yamazaki began cheer dance in the third grade of elementary school. She won the national championship as a member of the Ryukoku University Heian High School cheer dance club. As a member of the cheer dance team "APEX Dance World," which she joined in her first year of university, she achieved a second-place finish at "THE DANCE WORLDS 2024."

Yamazaki, as a member of the same team, competed in "JAMfest JAPAN vol.23 in TOKYO" held in Tokyo in November 2025. Her team won the Open Pom division, which involves performances using pom-poms, earning them a spot in the world championship.

At the world championship held in Florida, USA, on April 25th and 26th, 2024, she led the team as vice-captain. The team's powerful performance, excellent synchronization, expressiveness, and unity were highly praised by the judges, leading them to a remarkable victory among 32 teams from 12 participating countries.

During her visit to Takatsuki City Hall on this day, Yamazaki said, "I am happy that I was able to demonstrate the results of my practice so far and repay my family and instructors." Mayor Hamada stated, "I expect you to achieve even greater success with this victory as a stepping stone."
