Takatsuki Eco & Clean Festa: Raising Environmental Awareness Through Hands-on Experiences and Exhibits

On June 5 (Friday) and June 6 (Saturday), 2026, Takatsuki City will host the 'Takatsuki Eco & Clean Festa' at the Takatsuki Lifelong Learning Center. The event provides a fun way to learn about the importance of the environment, including global warming and waste reduction. Participants can learn about environmental issues through hands-on experiences, such as a craft corner using waste and natural materials, and a corner where they can operate model trains powered by solar energy.

The event is held annually with the goal of introducing initiatives by civic groups, businesses, and the local government regarding environmental conservation, global warming prevention measures, and waste sorting and reduction, to encourage visitors to take an interest in environmental issues. This year, a total of 20 groups, including civic organizations and businesses, will participate.

At the craft and experience corner in the Lifelong Learning Center, there will be booths where visitors can learn about the importance of recycling through crafts made from waste clothing and natural materials like bamboo. Other planned activities include booths where visitors can learn about environmentally friendly power generation methods that do not emit greenhouse gases, such as CO2, by operating model trains powered by solar energy or generating electricity by pedaling bicycles. Furthermore, the exhibition corner will feature displays on environmental issues such as global warming and food loss, information on the natural environment of Takatsuki, including forests and plants, as well as specimens of insects living in the Hara basin, and a quiz rally designed to make learning about the environment fun.

In addition, there will be a morning market booth selling local vegetables to promote 'local production for local consumption.' Freshly harvested produce, such as onions and potatoes grown with care by local farmers, will be on sale.
