On Sunday, August 16, 2026, the Takatsuki Castle Park Arts & Culture Theater South Hall Torishima Hall will host the family-oriented traditional performing arts performance 'Otoginosuke Emaki Part 1: Momotaro.' The stage performance combines Japanese dance, Rakugo, and classical music with animation, allowing both children and adults to enjoy and familiarize themselves with traditional performing arts. This performance was planned as a 'First Traditional Performing Arts Experience' to encourage children and families to enjoy traditional arts casually. Based on the well-known folktale 'Momotaro,' the performance features witty Rakugo storytelling, elegant and powerful Japanese dance, immersive live classical music, and animations projected on the stage background, creating a space that feels like stepping into a picture book. Even those who are not familiar with Rakugo or Japanese dance can enjoy and learn about traditional arts. Furthermore, the performance includes commentary, introducing how to watch and enjoy Japanese dance and Rakugo, making it easy to learn about the charm of traditional arts. Additionally, on the 'Open Day' held on Saturday, August 15, the day before the performance, the entire South Hall will be open to the public. Related events such as a Japanese dance workshop by the performers and a Rakugo listening comparison session will be held. It will be a day to feel traditional arts close to you with a 'Wa' (Japanese) theme, so please come and join us.
