Takatsuki City will introduce "Shuwa Link," a service enabling inquiries to the city hall via video call with sign language interpreters acting as operators, for the first time in the Hokusetsu region, starting April 1, 2026 (Wednesday), with the aim of improving convenience for people who use sign language for communication.

"Shuwa Link" can be used from internet-connected smartphones, computers with cameras, etc. When a service user clicks the "Shuwa Link" banner on the city's website, they will be connected via video call to a sign language interpreter who serves as the operator. When the user conveys their inquiry in sign language, the operator will translate it into voice and speak to the relevant department at the city hall by phone. The operator will then convey the city hall's response to the user in sign language, enabling real-time communication between both parties.

Previously, sign language users with hearing or speech difficulties often used email or fax for inquiries, making prompt communication difficult. However, with the introduction of this new service, smooth and accurate communication will be possible. Furthermore, by expanding the choices for inquiry methods, an environment where people can consult more casually will be established.
