On July 17, 2016, at the 40th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, "The Architectural Work of Le Corbusier, an Outstanding Contribution to the Modern Movement," comprising 17 properties in 7 countries, including the National Museum of Western Art in Taito Ward, Tokyo, was inscribed as a World Cultural Heritage site. This year, on July 17, 2026, we will mark the 10th anniversary of its World Cultural Heritage registration. To commemorate this milestone, we will implement 10th-anniversary projects throughout 2026 to widely disseminate the architectural and cultural value of the National Museum of Western Art, the architect Le Corbusier, the "Matsukata Collection" that served as the impetus for the museum's establishment, and the achievements of Kojiro Matsukata. We also aim to promote the appeal of "Taito Ward, a Town with World Heritage" both domestically and internationally.
1. Launch of a Special Website for the "10th Anniversary of World Heritage Registration" Commemorative Projects The official website of the ward will feature the annual schedule and event information for the 10th-anniversary projects.
