On April 1st, a permanent food drive reception desk was opened at the headquarters of Jonan Shinkin Bank (Nishi-Gotanda 7, Shinagawa Ward).

**About Shinagawa Ward's Food Drive Program**

Shinagawa Ward launched its “Food Drive” program in June 2023 (Reiwa 5), an activity where households bring surplus food to permanent collection points (such as supermarkets and ward facilities) or events, and donate it to social welfare councils and food banks.

Under this program, unopened instant foods, canned goods, etc., with a shelf life of two months or more, which are unused and surplus, are accepted at permanent collection points and donated to social welfare councils and food banks. *Food donated to social welfare councils is used to support the operation of children's cafeterias in the ward.

As of the end of March 2026 (Reiwa 8), 25 collection points, including ward facilities, have been established. Approximately 3,000 kg of food was collected in fiscal year 2023, approximately 4,000 kg in fiscal year 2024, and approximately 5,000 kg in fiscal year 2025, indicating a growing interest among ward residents in reducing food waste.

This time, as part of “Support for environmental conservation and environmental activities,” a collaboration item under the comprehensive partnership agreement concluded in June 2024 (Reiwa 6) between Shinagawa Ward and Jonan Shinkin Bank, a permanent food drive reception desk has been opened.

From “Mottainai” to “Thank you.” Please check the expiration dates of the food items you have at home and bring them to the reception point.
