Shibuya Sports Accord for FY2025 Held

Shibuya Ward (Mayor: Ken Hasebe) held the 4th 'Shibuya Sports Accord' on March 7, 2026. The 'Shibuya Sports Accord' is an initiative positioned within the 'Shibuya Ward Sports Promotion Plan (Second Phase),' serving as a venue where various stakeholders involved in sports promotion in Shibuya Ward—including local community organizations, sports promotion organizations, private businesses, top sports teams, and athletes—gather to share information on the ward's sports promotion and deepen a common understanding of the progress and challenges related to the sports promotion plan.

This time, with 'Civic Pride x Sports' as the keyword, participants shared insights on community connections and the nature of inclusion through sports, as well as challenges faced by the ward, deepening their understanding of future directions.

Shibuya Ward will continue to hold the 'Shibuya Sports Accord' as a forum for discussion among sports stakeholders within the ward, fostering a common understanding of the challenges faced by Shibuya Ward and the progress of its plans.

Haruna Takata, who has been active on the front lines of the sports business, and the Mayor took the stage to exchange opinions on the value sports bring to the community, from both administrative and private sector perspectives. A multifaceted discussion unfolded, covering various effects generated by sports, the creation of community-rooted clubs, and the importance of increasing people who resonate with the philosophy. The discussion highlighted the potential for people and cities to connect through sports, fostering civic pride.

'The Joy of Involvement as City Pride – Sports and Inclusion'
