FOOD×MOVIE Hokkaido's Premier Food and Film Festival! "HOKKAIDO FOOVIE FESTIVAL 2026" to be Held November 6-8! Competition Submissions Now Open!

The Sapporo Hokkaido Foo Vie Festival Executive Committee, comprised of Sapporo City, The Hokkaido Shimbun, and Creative Office Cue, is pleased to announce that "HOKKAIDO FOOVIE FESTIVAL 2026," a multifaceted event designed to savor the charms of Hokkaido's food and film, will be held over three days from November 6 (Fri) to November 8 (Sun), 2026, at multiple venues including theaters in Sapporo city.

This year, as a new initiative to create a platform for discovering next-generation video creators, we are upgrading "FOOVIE SELECTION," which has screened carefully selected works related to food from around the world, into an "Award format," and are widely calling for culinary films from both domestic and international submissions.

Furthermore, on the first day of the festival, an opening ceremony will be held at Kanamoto Hall, inviting TEAM NACS, who serve as the festival's special supporters, along with renowned actors, directors, domestic and international film industry professionals, and aspiring chefs.

Across various venues in Sapporo city, throughout the three-day event, there will be screenings of films related to food, talk events with guest speakers, and special lunches and dinners featuring menus created by chefs inspired by the films. Additionally, plans include the "Sapporo Foo Vie Bar," a food and drink event that saw participation from 50 local restaurants last year, and the Sapporo edition of the "World Culinary Congress," where chefs will discuss their culinary philosophies and passion for food.

The festival's name, "FOOVIE," is a portmanteau of "FOOD" and "MOVIE," created with the desire to be called by a familiar abbreviation. We aim for this phrase to become a household name and be widely disseminated, serving as a platform to deliver the attractions of Hokkaido's food, film, and tourism to a broader audience.
