PreFlop Inc., a group company of City Communications Inc., will open its third poker room, "PreFlop Omiya," on April 27, 2026, along Minami-Ginza Street near Omiya Station East Exit. The new store will feature three poker tables and a bar counter. The company aims to lower the barrier for beginners in poker, a game experiencing a global boom and rapid spread in Japan as a "mind sport." The first store, "PreFlop YOKOHAMA," opened on August 15, 2022, followed by "PreFlop KAWASAKI" on July 19, 2024. Texas Hold'em is described as the world's most popular poker style, emphasizing strategic play over pure luck. The Japanese poker market has seen significant growth, with market size doubling in four years and the number of stores reaching 604 by December 2025. The player population has increased 1.5 times to 2.4 million. Major companies like Sammy Corporation have entered the market, integrating apps with physical stores. The customer base is predominantly 20-30 year olds (nearly 80%), with approximately 20% being female players. It is positioned as an affordable hobby (around 3,000 yen per day) and a "fourth intellectual sport" after Shogi and Mahjong.
