Numazu City, located in the eastern part of Shizuoka Prefecture within a 100-kilometer radius of the capital, has long played a central role in the politics, economy, and culture of the Eastern Suruga Bay region and the Izu area. It serves as a transportation hub and a broad commercial and cultural center, thanks to its blessed natural environment and advantageous geographical conditions.

The rich nature and scenery, including Mt. Fuji seen across the inner Suruga Bay, the lush Senbon Matsubara (pine groves), Mt. Kanuki, and the Kano River flowing abundantly through the city center, have nurtured many literary figures. At the same time, this environment has fostered the balanced development of diverse industries: fresh and abundant fish, agricultural products like tea and mandarin oranges cultivated in a mild climate and rich soil, tourism utilizing natural conditions, commerce central to the eastern region, and advanced technology-driven industries.
