Minamiuonuma City in Niigata Prefecture and Matchbox Technologies have concluded a 'Comprehensive Partnership Agreement' as of March 25, 2026, aimed at solving local employment challenges and promoting diverse work styles. Since October 2023, the city has been operating the official municipal gig-work site 'Minamiuonuma Matchbox' through outsourcing to the company. The service allows diverse human resources, such as childcare-focused individuals and seniors, to work in spare time. With over 227 registered businesses and 2,000 users, and over 350 monthly hires, the service has become a significant source of local employment. With the service becoming financially sustainable through hiring fees, the partnership ensures its continued operation as a sustainable employment policy, marking the first such initiative between the company and a local government in Japan.
