Condensing the richness and beauty of life into a 3-minute video: Midori City releases city promotion video "Life and Midori"

Midori City, located in the eastern part of Gunma Prefecture, has released a new city promotion video (PV) with the aim of improving the city's external recognition, increasing the number of visitors, and expanding the population of people interacting with the city. The video is themed around the richness and beauty of life in Midori City, where residential areas are in close proximity to magnificent nature, and condenses that value into a compact format.

It captures not just tourist facilities and spots, but the natural, unpretentious beauty and atmosphere that is woven into daily life. You can experience the extraordinary hidden within the ordinary, from the perspective of someone who actually lives in the city and sees and feels it firsthand.

The released footage consists of two videos titled "Silence" and "Pulse." Each is about three minutes long and introduces not only tourist facilities—such as the popular local Watarase Keikoku Railway and the wooden Nagame Engeijo theater—but also residential areas, including a wood-fired public bathhouse loved by locals and an outdoor basketball court where people enjoy 3x3.

By framing the video as a journey through the city where actor Fuka Okawa, a native of the city, takes photographs, the content is designed to evoke an image of the viewer traveling through the city themselves.

Midori City (Municipality Information)
Midori City was born on March 27, 2006, through the merger of two towns and one village, and has reached its 20th anniversary since the implementation of the municipal system. Located in the eastern part of Gunma Prefecture, it is about a two-hour train ride from Tokyo. Eighty percent of its total area of 208.42 square kilometers is forest, and the terrain is long from north to south. The Ashio Mountains run through the north, and the Watarase River, which has its source in that mountain mass, flows from the northeast to the southeast of the city.

In the past, it developed as a place where people came and went, serving as a post town on the Akagane Kaido road that transported copper from the Ashio Copper Mine, and as a collection and distribution center for raw silk. Today, National Route 122 runs north-south from Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture, and National Route 50 runs east-west, connecting Maebashi City to Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture. The Ota-Yabuzuka Interchange of the Kita-Kanto Expressway is located near the southern part of the city, and access roads to the interchange have been improved in recent years. Four railway lines pass through the city: the JR Ryomo Line, the Tobu Kiryu Line, the Jomo Electric Railway, and the Watarase Keikoku Railway. In particular, the Watarase Keikoku Railway is a tourist resource representing the region along the line, beloved by railway fans across the country.
