Maizuru City to Hold 2nd Citizen's Grand Sports Festival and Health Check Event

Maizuru City will hold the '2nd Maizuru Citizen's Grand Sports Festival' at Maizuru Cultural Park Gymnasium on Saturday, May 30, 2026. On the same day, physical fitness tests, health checks, and new sports experiences will be held simultaneously to promote the health of citizens. The city continues the '2nd Maizuru Citizen's Grand Sports Festival' from last year, providing an opportunity for citizens to interact through sports and check their health status. The main event, the Citizen's Grand Sports Festival, is open for 300 participants on a first-come, first-served basis with advance registration. Activities will include 'Chatta Taiso' warm-up exercises, obstacle races, ball toss, typhoon's eye, jump rope, tug-of-war, and relays. Both individual and group registrations (up to 10 people) are accepted. Additionally, for those not participating in the sports festival, the following concurrent events will be available: a physical fitness test corner (jump power, reaction tests, adult sports tests), light exercise mini-lessons (approx. 15 minutes each, 4 sessions), a health check corner (with cooperation from Nippon Life Insurance using measurement devices), and new sports experiences (My Pack, Mölkky). Physical fitness tests and health checks do not require advance registration and are free of charge. The city encourages active participation from all citizens.
