An app has been launched that allows you to experience the restoration of Musashi Kokubunji, a historical and tourist resource of the city, using VR/AR technology (note). Musashi Kokubunji was built approximately 1300 years ago by order of Emperor Shomu, but it has since disappeared and its original appearance can no longer be seen. Through the app, please experience the appearance and scale of the buildings at that time, restored with the latest technology, on-site.

VR: Abbreviation for Virtual Reality, an immersive experience in a virtual space

AR: Abbreviation for Augmented Reality, displaying digital information superimposed on the real world

Main Features of the App

Except for some functions, the app can only be used on-site. Also, GPS function is used when using on-site.

*Some expressions may differ depending on the OS (basic software) of your device.

・VR/AR experience with audio commentary for the Kondo (main hall), Kodo (lecture hall), and seven-story pagoda of Musashi Kokubun-soji (available only on-site)

・Commemorative photo with restored CG (available only on-site)

・Restored CG viewing (available anywhere)

Remarks

・Downloading the app (free) to your smartphone, etc., is required for use.

・App compatible device conditions

iOS version: iOS 15 or higher and ARKit compatible device

Android version: Android 10 or higher and ARCore compatible device

*Even with a compatible device, if the necessary functions for app operation are insufficient,

downloading may not be possible.

・Supports Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean

・The restored CG images are created based on the Musashi Kokubunji Garan Restoration Model Design Document, Musashi Kokubunji Seven-story Pagoda Restoration Model Design Document, and the Excavation Report of the National Historic Site Musashi Kokubun-soji Ruins, under the supervision of curators. Some parts where historical records are unavailable include partial imagery.

・When using on-site, please pay close attention to your footing, people, and objects around you. The city is not responsible for any accidents or troubles that occur on-site.
