On June 6, 2026 (Saturday), Kawasaki Todoroki Park (Headquarters: 3-472 Kosugimachi, Nakahara-ku, Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture; President and CEO: Takashi Miki; hereinafter "Kawasaki Todoroki Park") and Kawasaki Mirai Energy Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: 1-1 Minamimachi, Kawasaki-ku, Kawasaki City; President and CEO: Atsushi Ida; hereinafter "Kawasaki Mirai Energy") held an announcement event regarding the signing of an electricity supply contract for major facilities at Todoroki Green Space.
The initiative to supply substantially 100% renewable electricity—generated entirely from 'citizen-sourced' local renewable energy combining waste-to-energy and solar power—to multiple large-scale sports facilities within the city marks Japan's first such project as of June 8, 2026 (Kawasaki City survey).
As a result, all electricity used in major facilities at Todoroki Green Space—equivalent to the annual consumption of approximately 854 average households—will now be fully powered by renewable energy.

Comment from the Mayor of Kawasaki City
Our city aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions within the city by 2050, advancing local production and consumption of energy through regional circulation of renewable energy.
So far, we have utilized electricity generated from incinerating household waste collected within Kawasaki City at around 300 public facilities, including elementary and junior high schools and ward offices. This time, we are combining that with solar power generated from residential solar panels across the city to introduce renewable energy—born from citizens’ daily lives—into Kawasaki’s pride, the 'holy land of sports.' Through such carbon-neutral initiatives, we will elevate both the value of our city and the value of sports.
With the understanding and cooperation of our citizens, and through collaboration with businesses such as Kawasaki Todoroki Park Co., Ltd. and Kawasaki Mirai Energy Co., Ltd.—a city-funded corporation—we will continue advancing our decarbonization efforts.
Comment from Kawasaki Todoroki Park Co., Ltd.
We are pleased to have received an attractive proposal from Kawasaki Mirai Energy regarding electricity supply to these stadiums, arenas, and baseball fields, leading us to utilize renewable energy produced within the city.
We believe this initiative will support Kawasaki City’s efforts toward sustainability and help Todoroki Green Space become a park that citizens and sports teams can feel closer to and take pride in.
Currently, construction related to redevelopment is in full swing, causing various inconveniences. Under the city’s guidance, we will continue working to create a park that reflects the collective will of citizens. We appreciate your continued understanding and cooperation.
Comment from Kawasaki Mirai Energy Co., Ltd.
We are very pleased that our electricity will now be used at this site in Todoroki.
This initiative, conducted in collaboration with our business partner Tokyu Power Supply Co., Ltd., combines renewable electricity involving Kawasaki citizens managed by each company and returns it to sports venues rooted in the community. It truly embodies energy circulation and local production for local consumption, and we find it deeply meaningful.
Through such initiatives, we will continue to expand citizen engagement and support.
Comment from the Japan Sports Agency
※ As Todoroki Green Space has been selected as a 'Stadium and Arena as a Hub for Multigenerational Exchange,' the Japan Sports Agency has also provided a comment.
The Japan Sports Agency promotes sports complexes that aim to revitalize, grow, and develop entire areas by integrating stadiums and arenas with surrounding infrastructure and other facilities. Stadiums and arenas attract large numbers of people, act as catalysts for regional revitalization, and can even become symbols of the region. In 2023 (Reiwa 5), Todoroki Green Space was selected by the Japan Sports Agency as a 'Stadium and Arena as a Hub for Multigenerational Exchange.'
Implementing such initiatives at such venues sends a message about the region’s commitment to environmental issues and can further raise public awareness and understanding of environmental protection.
We look forward to Todoroki Green Space continuing to disseminate advanced initiatives that enhance environmental awareness and contribute to regional revitalization nationwide.
