Kawanishi City in Hyogo Prefecture is engaged in a project to compile the history of its town's development to pass it on to future generations. As the first phase of this project, the administrative history covering approximately 20 years from 1975 (Showa 50) to 1994 (Heisei 6) will be made public on the website "Kawanishi no Rekishi Kawanishi City Digital Archive" starting May 1st (Friday).
During this period of approximately two decades, from 1975 to 1994, Kawanishi City experienced dramatic changes. These included the noise problems associated with Osaka International Airport, the completion of the Ikeda Dam, the development of schools and social education facilities to accommodate rapid population growth, the enhancement of urban living infrastructure essential for daily life, significant urban redevelopment projects, and the promotion of community-building policies.
The "Kawanishi no Rekishi Kawanishi City Digital Archive" serves as a platform to publicly share the administrative records of that era as a comprehensive administrative history.
In addition to these administrative historical records, the website also features a "More About Administrative History - Materials Collection," which compiles public relations magazines and other relevant documents from that period. Furthermore, it showcases a collection of photographs dating back to the city's incorporation in 1954 (Showa 29).
We encourage everyone to visit the digital archive and explore the rich history of Kawanishi City.
