Located in the northwestern part of Kakogawa City, Hyogo Prefecture, the grounds of the 'Flower Temple' Enshoji are home to clusters of many flowers, including hydrangeas, Christmas roses, and peonies. During their respective blooming periods, the temple bustles with many visitors seeking the gorgeous scenery. From mid-June to mid-July, over 350 hydrangeas of about 90 varieties bloom all over the grounds. We invite you to see the wide variety of hydrangeas, such as 'Hakujuko', whose petals change from white to red, and 'Mangekyo', which has a striking blue and white gradient. The hydrangeas blooming at Enshoji Temple are currently at their peak, which will last until around July 5th. [About the Flower Temple, Enshoji] Enshoji is known as a flower temple, with flowers such as hydrangeas, Thunberg spirea, and lilies of the valley blooming profusely from March to November. Founded in 1441. The temple relocated to its current land about 30 years ago due to the deterioration of the old main hall. The current head priest is the 13th generation. While it may not be an ancient or famous temple in the traditional sense, the current head priest manages the flowers with the desire to make it a temple where visitors can find peace of mind and the energy to live, while cherishing the teachings of the saints. ◆Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Camp Bell The temple bell on the grounds is said to be the bell from Ueno Hachimangu Shrine in Yamaguchi Prefecture, which Toyotomi Hideyoshi used as a camp bell during his campaign to pacify the Chugoku region and left behind when returning to Kyoto. It bears the inscription 'Suo Province Tondasho Ueno Hachimangu Meio 7...' and is a city-designated cultural property. ◆The Ceiling of the Main Hall The ceiling of the main hall features bright pink lighting. In keeping with the flower temple theme, it symbolizes the lotus flower. ◆Access, etc. Address: 1029 Hiroo, Shikata-cho, Kakogawa City, Hyogo Prefecture TEL: 079-452-2067 Official Website: http://kakogawa-enshouji.com/index.html <Hydrangeas at Enshoji Temple> Hakujuko, Mangekyo, La Bella
