In addition to the traditional declining birthrate and aging population, aging facilities, and outflow of talent, the city faces a mountain of challenges such as a sharp decline in the birthrate since the COVID-19 pandemic. Iyo City is working daily on regional development by implementing three future strategies in the Second Iyo City Comprehensive Plan (formulated in March 2021): ① Creating an environment where 30,000 people want to continue living, ② Fostering industries that support 30,000 people, and ③ Executing awareness reforms that can bring together the power of 30,000 people.
