It is an environmental action team where elementary and junior high school students take the initiative to address societal issues through learning, action, and dissemination.

Through practical activities such as crafting experiences using upcycled materials, clean-up events, and environmental workshops, they create new value for society through child-led actions.

At Earth Day Tokyo 2026 this year, children will learn about the characteristics of microalgae (Solaris) and challenge themselves with product planning experience programs and presentations for cosmetics and food products based on what they have learned.

circuRE act has decided to support the holding of this educational program with the hope that by understanding the mechanism of industrializing biology into chemistry, and by thoroughly pursuing the uniqueness and fun of children's ideas, they will discover the joy of biology and chemistry, and it will serve as a trigger for their future self-learning.

Microalgae: The Origin of Life, Said to be the Starting Point of Humanity

4.6 billion years ago, when Earth was born, there was no oxygen in the atmosphere.

Approximately 3 billion years ago, cyanobacteria, the first organisms to produce oxygen through photosynthesis, appeared, and over hundreds of millions of years, the Earth's current environment was created.

Microalgae have played a very important role in significantly changing the Earth's environment in the past (producing oxygen), supporting the food chain as crucial microorganisms, and maintaining the global environment and ecosystems.

Many possibilities are hidden within microalgae. Furthermore, petroleum is also said to be accumulated microalgae on the seabed.

Some microalgae species can accumulate oil.

Extracted and refined Solaruna® Oil

We are focusing on Solaris microalgae, which J-POWER, an electricity business operator both domestically and internationally, has been researching for over 10 years. This microalgae accumulates more oil than other species, and research and development are underway with the aim of utilizing it as biomass energy for SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) in the future.

Furthermore, since Solaruna® Oil has a composition similar to palm oil, research and development are being conducted to utilize it as a raw material for cosmetics and food products, and we will proceed with its domestic cultivation and raw material processing.
