Cinnamon Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Mirai Hirano, hereinafter "Cinnamon AI"), a provider of AI (Artificial Intelligence) solutions to major domestic companies, will fully provide "Benefit Payment Assessment AI," an AI agent that utilizes generative AI and RAG (*2) for medical judgment in benefit payment assessment operations, to Daido Life Insurance Company (President: Mutsuo Kitahara, hereinafter "Daido Life"), a member of the T&D Insurance Group. This marks the first time in the life insurance industry (*1) that such technology will be implemented, with full provision commencing on April 1, 2026.

In the process of assessing hospitalization benefit claims for life insurance, it is necessary to determine whether to aggregate hospitalization days based on medical judgment from past claims and newly occurring claims related to illnesses. For cases where this judgment is difficult, it has traditionally been a challenge, requiring significant costs for preparation and waiting for responses, as claims adjusters would consult in-house doctors.

Cinnamon AI has now jointly developed (*3) an AI agent with Daido Life that can highly utilize operational manuals and medical information held by Daido Life through generative AI leveraging RAG. With the introduction of this solution, AI can now generate judgments based on medical evidence in approximately 70% of cases that previously required the judgment of in-house doctors, doing so quickly and accurately in place of the doctors. This is expected to improve the assessment processing speed per case, leading to a reduction in the number of days required for customer payments. Furthermore, it is projected to reduce annual work hours by approximately 1,800 hours for claims adjusters and in-house doctors. The time saved can be allocated to examining and implementing administrative processes that create optimal customer experiences, shifting personnel to higher value-added tasks and further promoting DX across the organization. Additionally, less experienced claims adjusters can refer to and learn from the medical judgment grounds output by generative AI, enabling them to efficiently acquire medical knowledge and further improve assessment quality.

Cinnamon AI will continue to deepen its partnership with Daido Life, expanding the application areas of its AI agents and aiming for further efficiency and speed in payment assessment operations by applying the verification and analysis results of AI judgments to the review of automated processing conditions.
